At a ceremony in Kabul on Tuesday, the administration of ATVI paid tribute to the team for its commendable performance.

Acting ATVI Director Ghulam Haidar Shahamat acknowledged the robotics team successfully participated in the international event in China.

A total of 300 players from 61 countries of the world took part in the competition and each of them displayed their innovations.

Shahamat added:“Al-hamdulillah, our team shone with robotics installation and in the goldsmith section ... It was an honour for our country to be a part of this international contest.”

The team enjoyed cooperation from China in developing robotics skills and acquiring the necessary equipment, he said.

The robotic side of China secured the first position, while Japan finished second, Russia third, Afghanistan fourth and Canada fifth.

Mohammad Zakaria Omari, an ATVI instructor who accompanied the

Team, said:“Four members of the squad from Afghanistan participated in the event while one of them was selected as a referee. The rest of the team members displayed their innovations.”

He noted:“We lack modern equipment and technology and other necessary items.”

He commented:“We intend to do even better in the future. If provided with more facilities, our robotics team will be able to secure the first, second or third position.”

Another instructor of the Institute, Mohammad Faridoon Bakhtiari, commented:“Luckily Afghanistan secured the fourth position. China had provided us all the necessary equipment.”

Bakhtiari said:“We had to work for three days, with the first two days devoted to training. On the third day, our team participated in an eight- hour robot-making contest.”
