Bill Gates calls for investment in climate-friendly technologies
(MENAFN) This week, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates called on investors to support climate-friendly technologies, asserting that such investments could ignite a "green industrial revolution." Speaking at his "Breakthrough Energy" summit held over three days in an upscale area of London, Gates emphasized the potential of over 100 companies dedicated to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in critical sectors like manufacturing, energy, and transportation, which are the primary contributors to climate change.
Gates, a prominent philanthropist and the principal investor in a fund he established in 2015, has committed approximately USD2.2 billion to innovative technologies. These include low-carbon cement, zero-emission aviation, and sustainable building materials. He strongly believes in the transformative power of innovation to address climate change. Despite many of these technologies still being in their nascent stages, Gates acknowledges the crucial role of financial investment in advancing these solutions.
