MSF Urges End To Dangerous Migrations Routes To Europe

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) calls for an end to dangerous migration routes to Europe and reports the discovery of 11 asylum seekers' bodies near the coast of Libya after over 9 hours of search operations. The organization stated on Sunday, June 9, that the bodies of these migrants were handed over to the Italian Coast Guard.

According to the organization, the migrant ship was en route to the shores of Italy.

No details have been provided regarding the identities of these individuals.

Additionally, Médecins Sans Frontières emphasized that reaching Europe through perilous routes must come to an end.

This comes as thousands of migrants annually lose their lives in the perilous Mediterranean Sea routes in their quest to reach Europe.

Previously, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that over the past decade, more than 63,000 people have lost their lives or gone missing before reaching their final destination.

According to the statistics from this organization, from January 1st to June 1st of the current year, at least 282 individuals have lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea.
