Consequently, the Republican billionaire has become the first former US president to be criminally convicted, although this verdict does not bar him from continuing his election campaign or potentially winning the presidency. The political implications of this ruling remain uncertain, raising questions about whether it will force him out of the race, as his opponent Joe Biden hopes, or if a legal and political solution will be devised to allow him to continue.
