Korea-Africa Summit Begins In Seoul, Egypt's Al-Mashat Attends On Behalf Of President Al-Sisi


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The 2024 Korea-Africa Summit commenced today in Seoul, South Korea, with the participation of delegations from 48 African countries, including 25 heads of state.

The summit also includes representatives from the African Union, the African Development Bank, the African Free Trade Agreement, and the African Centers for disease Control and Prevention. Egypt's Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, attended the summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

During the opening ceremony, South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol received Minister Al-Mashat, who conveyed President Al-Sisi's greetings and hopes for the summit to establish strong foundations for joint Korean-African relations and further development efforts on the continent.

Themed“The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability & Solidarity,” the summit aims to strengthen the partnership between South Korea and African countries, building upon cooperation that began in 1950. This collaboration seeks to address the complex challenges faced by development efforts worldwide.

The summit also aims to consolidate joint cooperation between South Korea and the African continent, aligning development efforts with the goals of the African Union and Africa Agenda 2063.

Minister Al-Mashat is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit, and a final statement outlining the key agreements reached during the summit's activities will be issued.

The summit is co-chaired by South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould El-Ghazouani.
