(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Russian forces conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Kupiansk and Avdiivka directions in the past 24 hours. In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine hold back the advance of the enemy. In total, 26 combat clashes took place during the day. The General Staff of the armed forces of Ukraine said this in its evening update on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
According to the General Staff, throughout the day, the enemy launched 5 missile attacks and more than 34 airstrikes, carried out 41 MLRS attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas. Unfortunately, as a result of the Russian terrorist attacks, there are dead and wounded among the civilian population.
The threat of the enemy launching further missile attacks and airstrikes on Ukraine remains high.
“24 combat clashes occurred in the past 24 hours,” the General Staff said.
In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the operational situation has not changed significantly.
In the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna directions, the aggressor launched an airstrike in Bobylivka area of Sumy region. More than 25 settlements came under mortar and artillery shelling, including Bleshnia, Yanzhulivka, Mykolaivka of Chernihiv region; Chernatske, Lomlenka, Kindrativka, Novodmytrivka, Luhivka of Sumy region and Udy, Hraniv, Ohirtseve, Bochkove, Budarky of Kharkiv region.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the Novoyehorivka area of Luhansk region. Airstrikes were launched in the districts of Orlianske of Kharkiv region, and Nadia of Luhansk region. The settlements of Dvorichna, Synkivka, Ivanivka, Kyslivka, and Berestove of Kharkiv region were subjected to artillery and mortar shelling.
In the Lyman direction, the invaders launched airstrikes in the areas of Spirne and Rozdolivka. The settlements of Nevske, Bilohorivka of Luhansk region, and Spirne, Rozdolivka of Donetsk region came under artillery and mortar attacks.
In the Bakhmut sector, the aggressor carried out airstrikes in Ivanivske and Bila Hora areas of Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vasiukivka, Minkivka, Markove, Bakhmut, Chasiv Yar, and New York of Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.
In the Avdiivka direction, the enemy conducted unsuccessful offensive actions in the area south of Avdiivka, Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Novokalynove, Stepove, Karlivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske of Donetsk region, came under artillery fire.
In the Maryinka direction, the Defense Forces continue to hold back the advance of Russian troops in the areas northeast of Novomykhailivka and Maryinka, Donetsk region. The enemy carried out an airstrike in Krasnohorivka area of Donetsk region. The settlements of Zhelanne Pershe, Oleksandropil, Pobieda, Katerynivka, Yelyzavetivka, and Illinka of Donetsk region came under enemy artillery fire.
In the Shakhtarske direction, Russian troops launched an airstrike in Staromaiorske area of Donetsk region. More than 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Novoukrainka, Zolota Nyva, Vremivka, Staromaiorske, and Rivnopil of Donetsk region, were subjected to enemy artillery shelling.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy carried out airstrikes in the areas of Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne of Zaporizhzhia region. More than 20 settlements came under artillery shelling, including Novodarivka, Malynivka, Zaliznychne, Mala Tokmachka, Mali Shcherbaky, and Piatykhatky of Zaporizhzhia region.
In the Kherson direction, the aggressor launched an airstrike in Tiahynka area of Kherson region. More than 15 settlements, including Lvove, Kherson, Komyshany, Bilozerka, Kizomys of Kherson region and Ochakiv of Mykolaiv region came under enemy artillery fire.
At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions, getting entrenched in the regained positions and carrying out counter-battery measures.
The Air Force of Ukraine launched one strike on one enemy command post, 13 strikes on manpower clusters and three strikes on the enemy's anti-aircraft missile system. For their part, missile and artillery forces struck one Russian command post, one manpower, weapons, and equipment cluster, three artillery units in firing positions, one air defense system, one ammunition depot, and one e-warfare station.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Defense Forces of Ukraine from February 24, 2022 to August 24, 2023 eliminated about 259,160 Russian invaders, including 340 occupiers in the past day alone.
