(MENAFN) According to IRNA, Iran and Iraq have agreed a number of papers relating to agricultural cooperation, including a shared calendar to increase cooperation in the aforementioned field in accordance with the norms of both countries and the seasonal requirements of both markets.
The aforementioned documents were approved during a conversation on Saturday among Mohammad Ali Nikbakht, the Iranian agriculture minister, and Abbas Al-Maliki, his Iraqi counterpart.
During this conversation, Nikbakht emphasized the need of an agricultural calendar in preserving the continuity of commercial links between both nations. He declared: “We have a calendar and production plan for all kinds of agricultural products in Iran, and if the two countries coordinate based on such an agricultural calendar, we can supply part of Iraq's needs while supplying the domestic market, and on the other hand, import that part of our market’s from Iraq.”
The minister emphasized that there are mutual requirements between the two nations in the areas of trade, investment, knowledge transfer, along with technology transfer in the agricultural sector. Iran is prepared to share its experiences and accomplishments in these areas with the Iraqi side in this respect.
