Bangladesh Passport Up Five Notches In Global Index
(MENAFN- Bangladesh Monitor) Dhaka : Bangladeshi passport has been ranked 10th-weakest in the world even after moving up five notches on Henley Passport index 2023.
The country was placed 96th out of 103, according to the latest quarterly edition of the index, published on July 18.
The ranking is based on the number of destinations passport holders can access without a prior visa.
According to the latest edition of the index, Bangladeshi passport holders can travel to 40 countries without a visa or get a visa on arrival.
Earlier, in the index published on January 10, Bangladesh was ranked 101st, jointly with Libya and Kosovo.
Bangladesh was ranked 104th in 2022.
Japan had been at the top of strong passports for five years on the index. However, Singapore has now overtaken Japan to the top. Passport holders of this country can visit 192 countries without a visa.
On the other hand, Japan dropped to third place.
Currently, Japanese people can travel to 189 countries without a visa.
Pakistan, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan grabbed the positions from 100th to 104th, respectively.
