Casualties As Russian Strike Hits Residential Building In Mykolaiv


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) As a result of an overnight shelling targeting Mykolaiv, a fire broke out in a residential building.

That's according to the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitaliy Kim, who broke the news on telegram , Ukrinform reports.

"The Russians hit the city center. A garage and a 3-story residential building are on fire. The firefighters have scrambled to the scene," he wrote.

According to Kim, seven people were injured: four adults and three children (a toddler under 1 year of age, a 3-year-old, and a 16-year-old).

Those injured were rushed to hospitals.

"People are also coming up to get medical assistance on the spot," added the head of the administration.

Kim soon clarified that the number of wounded had increased to nine, including five children.

And after some time he reported that some residents had died in the strike, without clarifying their number.

In turn, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, wrote on telegram : "At least five residential high-rise buildings were damaged (windows, doors, balconies, ceilings). They are currently disconnected from the power supply. A search and rescue operation is underway," the statement reads.

"About 15 garages were damaged at the second site... Windows in several high-rise buildings were also shattered here," added Sienkevych.

As reported, two powerful explosions rang out in Mykolaiv during the air raid alert overnight Thursday.
