Attack On Security Check Post Kills 4 Sw Pakistan


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ISLAMABAD, July 2 (KUNA) -- At least three policemen and a personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC) were killed in an attack by militants targeting a security check post in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province on Sunday, said officials.
Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shabbir in a statement to media confirmed that at least three policemen and one FC personnel lost their lives in the attack that took place at a check post in the Dhana Sar area of Balochistan's Sherani sub district. The exchange of fire continued for almost two hours. A "terrorist" was killed during the exchange, while two others were injured, said the official. However, the injured militants manage to flee the area with help of their companions. During the exchange of fire, another FC personnel was injured who was shifted to the nearest government run medical facility. The security forces cordoned off the surrounding areas and a probe into the incident went underway.
Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo condemned the attack. saying that terrorists "cannot demoralize the security forces with cowardly acts."
A rise in militant attacks is witnessed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces after banned outfit Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November last year. (end)
