Omani Amb.: Sultanate Aims To Attract 10 Mln Tourists By 2030


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 16 (KUNA) -- The Sultanate of Oman had attracted three million tourists by 2022 and it aims to boost that number to 10 million by 2030, said a Omani diplomat on Tuesday.
Speaking at the "tourism in Oman" press conference, Omani Ambassador to Kuwait Dr. Saleh Al-Kharusi revealed that they number of international tourists visiting Oman in 2022 had jumped by 172 percent in the first quarter of that year.
He called on Kuwaitis and residents to visit Oman during the current season to enjoy the beautiful nature and assortment of activities, pointing out that citizens of 103 countries were exempted from visas and that includes GCC citizens and residents of Gulf countries.
Those residing in Kuwait could visit Oman without the need for a visa on the condition that their residency documents and passports were still valid, added the ambassador.
He touted the diverse touristic sites in Oman, saying that the 33,218 registered sites in 2021 had significant historical, geographic, and cultural importance.
On Kuwaiti-Omani relations, the Ambassador affirmed that they were continuously developing, indicating that last March the Omani-Kuwaiti joint committee held its meeting and explored various venues of cooperation. (end)
