Doha: President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana H E Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali called on Qatari investors and businessmen to invest in his country and benefit from opportunities in many sectors, mainly in oil and gas, infrastructure, tourism, services, hospitality, agriculture and others.
This came during his meeting yesterday at the Sheraton Hotel with Qatar Chamber First Vice-Chairman Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari.
During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations in the economic and commercial fields and ways to enhance them, in addition to the investment climate and opportunities available on both sides and the role of the private sector in activating the trade exchange between both countries.
The Guyana's President Dr Mohamed Irfaan also said that the private sector in both sides can play a leading role in enhancing and expanding the cooperation relations between his country and the State of Qatar, noting that there are a host of opportunities in all sectors, especially in the energy and food security sectors, praising the great developments made by Qatar in these sectors.
Regarding the food security, he said that Qatar is attaching a great importance to this vital sector, stressing that his country offers a multitude of opportunities in this sector, where Qatari investors can invest in Guyana in producing grains, rice, poultry, meat and other food products.
He also stressed his country's interest to develop economic and commercial cooperation with Qatar and attract Qatari investors to benefit from the investment climate his country offers plenty of incentives for foreign investors, noting that his accompanying delegation include a number of businessmen specialized in various sectors like agriculture, real estate and tourism and that they are eager to establish partnerships with the Qatar side.
For his part, Mohamed bin Twar Al Kuwari praised the relations between Qatar and Guyana, paying tribute to the concern of President of Guyana to meet with representatives of the Qatar Chamber and the Qatari private sector.
Al Kuwari affirmed that the Qatari investors are interested to learn about the investment opportunities available in Guyana, stressing the Qatar Chamber's support and encouragement to Qataris to expand their investments in friendly countries such as Guyana which provides attractive opportunities in various sectors.
He also underscored that the Guyana President's visit to Qatar would contribute to enhancing cooperation relations between both sides at all levels, especially at the level of the private sector, noting that it also would help develop trade volume and mutual investments between both sides.
