QRCS Provides Vocational Training To Gaza Graduates

Doha: The representation office of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) in Gaza attended the graduation ceremony of 73 young women and men who received remote work training under the QRCS-funded project of“Create a Living for Women and Youths from Poor Families in Gaza”, carried out by Computer Land Co. and Vision Plus Co, in cooperation with Palestine's Ministry of Labor (MOL) in Gaza.

Dr. Akram Nassar, head of QRCS's office in Gaza, said the interventions of QRCS to build the capacity of fresh graduates help to improve the economic conditions in Gaza, amid high unemployment and poverty rates.

According to him, 73 beneficiaries gained practical experience in five specializations: e-marketing, mobile application programming, user interface/experience design, translation, and content writing. Now, they are able to work from home.

Mohamed Tubail, Chairman of the National Council for Remote Work and Director-General of Employment Services at MOL, praised QRCS's role in alleviating the suffering of fresh graduates in Gaza, by securing job opportunities for them. He called for the adoption of such significant projects that help develop the skills of fresh graduates.

Eng. Ashraf Al-Yazouri, Director of Vision Plus Co., gave a presentation of the project's three phases: technical training, self-employment training, and incubation and mentoring. The nine-month training resulted in 584 tasks executed by the trainees on remote work platforms, with a total revenue of over $60,000.

The $457,000 project of“Create a Living for Women and Youths from Poor Families in Gaza” consists of three components: remote work, paid temporary jobs for 75 beneficiaries, and project management training and cash project funding for 50 women in Gaza.
