'Daesh Insurgents Killed In Balkh Raids Are Tajik, Uzbek Nationals'


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Five Daesh militants killed in Friday night operations in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province were Tajikistan and Uzbekistan nationals, an official said on Saturday.

Balkh Police Spokesperson Mohammad Asif Wazir told Pajhwok Afghan News three Daesh - 'Khawarej' - hideouts were destroyed during intelligence based operation in Mazar-i-Sharif's 5th, 8th and 10th Police Districts on Friday night.

He said five 'Khawarej' who are Tajikistan and Uzbekistan nationals were killed during the operations.

Four Kalashnikovs and some equipment were also recovered during the raids.

Earlier, IEA Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the operation.

Operations against Daesh comes at a time when officials in Balkh recently claimed the killing of eight rebels and kidnappers, but the families of deceased individuals claimed that the victims were innocent and worked with a construction company.
