Doha: Deputy Inspector General of the Rwandan Police in charge of Operations, Felix Namuhoranye on Thursday praised the State of Qatar's strategy and experience in linking security with development, which earned it an elevated rank in security and peace indicators globally.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the celebration of the graduation of the fifth batch of students nominated at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Interior, he said that Qatar's experience in merging security and development is distinguished, as there can be no development without security.

The success of the security and development experience in Qatar deserves salute, and everyone should learn and benefit from it, Namuhoranye said, highlighting that his country applies this model that links security and development by supporting community police programmes.

Establishing security and peace goes beyond the link between security and development, to include levels of training, professionalism, discipline, faith and leadership, said Namuhoranye, adding that Qatar has set a model in this aspect, with its highly professional and disciplined security staff.

Expressing admiration for the Police Academy's educational and training system, the Rwandan Police official said that the graduation ceremony for the nominated officers and the stages of education and training they went through, show the extent of success in investing in the areas of security and development and applying that on the ground.

According to him, the various law enforcement agencies can draw lessons and good practices from Qatar's police model to establish security and safety in their countries.

He added that the security cooperation between both countries created strong foundations for the police forces in both countries to engage in mutual police cooperation, and discussions are underway to agree on other concrete measures that start with a capacity-building programme.

Namuhoranye also congratulated Qatar on its success in organising the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
