US official: Wednesday announced plans to send Abrams tanks to Ukraine
(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) A US official revealed, on Tuesday, that President Joe Biden may announce plans to send Abrams tanks to Ukraine on Wednesday.
"It is possible that President Joe Biden will announce plans to send Abrams tanks to Ukraine" as early as Wednesday, the US official told Anadolu Agency, preferring not to be named.
This came in the wake of a press statement by White House spokesman Patrick Ryder, during which he hinted at Washington's indecisiveness in the decision to send the US "Abrams M1" tanks to Ukraine, to help it confront Russian attacks.
"Right now I don't have anything to announce, and of course we'll let you know when we make up our minds," Ryder said.
He added that the Abrams tanks "have high combat capabilities, but they need maintenance and training."
In the context, Ryder stressed that the US forces "will train the Ukrainian military to use Abrams tanks, if the decision is made to supply them."
