406km of extra railways to start functioning in Iran within next year


(MENAFN) Kheirollah Khademi, the managing head of Iran's Construction and Development of transportation Infrastructures Company (CDTIC), has stated that 406 kilometers (km) of railway ventures are going to start functioning throughout the nation within the next year, IRIB mentioned in report.

Addressing the latest inauguration of the 155km Zahedan-Khash railroad in southeastern Iran, Khademi asserted that “Another 406 kilometers of railway projects will go operational by the end of this [Iranian calendar] year (March 20) and during the next year (ends in March 2024).”

In line with the representative, the stated railways involve five main ventures that all have reached physical development from 75 percent up to 90 percent.

He added that there are 3,300 kilometers of railway ventures in action throughout the nation, and continued: “We have also about 6,000 kilometers of railway projects in the study stage, which we have not started yet, but they are in the country's development plan.”
