India, Netherlands Agree To Deepen Cooperation After Extensive Talks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Dec 19 (KUNA) -- India and the Netherlands on Monday agreed to strengthen ties after talks that covered bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual concern as part for 11th Foreign Office Consultations between the two nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that Indian delegation headed by Sanjay Verma, Secretary (West) at the Ministry of External Affairs and the Dutch side led by Secretary General at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Paul Huijts reviewed progress made in the bilateral ties in the last one year despite the pandemic.
Both the delegations also discussed ways of cooperation in various sectors including water, agriculture, health, climate innovation and renewable technologies. They also said that they are looking forward to the inaugural Joint Trade and Investment Committee Meeting next year to further intensify trade ties as the Netherlands has emerged India's 3rd biggest export partner in Europe. A Policy Planning Dialogue shall be Instituted to help explore new horizon for potential future collaborations.
'India and the Netherlands also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including Afghanistan, Ukraine, the Indo-Pacific, the EU, the UN and climate action,' the statement said.
The Netherlands also hailed the invitation to the G20 under India's presidency and expressed willingness to its participation. 'The re-launch of FTA negotiations and Connectivity partnership between India and EU were acknowledged as key drivers by both countries,' it added. (end)
