(MENAFN) A protest of switch workers at French national railway firm SNCF, which started on Thursday, is to carry on during the holidays, as declared by four industry unions on Saturday.
SNCF switch workers serve the overall French rail network. Without them, no trains can operate. The unions are requiring higher appreciation of their work as well as an advancement in their work place situations.
Between additional things, the unions criticized a lack of workers, which worsens the operating situations of the driving staffs, and condemned an administration verdict to cut the amount of training sessions.
Up to now, nearly 20 French high-speed TGV trains have by now been annulled because of the protests. As the unions have declared additional protests for Christmas (Dec. 25) as well as New Year, the French public are getting ready for huge disturbances throughout the winter holidays.
As said by the SNCF, trains going towards the Atlantic coast is going to be the worst impacted.
