Libya’s Dbeibeh greets UN urge for holding elections


(MENAFN) Chief of Tripoli-based unity government Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh on Sunday greeted a phone discussion by the UN ambassador to Libya for hosting votes in the nation.

Dbeibeh stated in a publish a tweet on his user at Twitter that "I welcome the statement of the Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, in which he urged all the relevant parties to achieve what he described as the "sole purpose" to go for elections."

On Saturday, Bathily urged that "on political actors to accelerate discussions on the way forward in the political process, and to create the conditions for the holding of free and fair elections."

On Wednesday, Libyan Parliament representative Agila Saleh stated that there is a signed agreement among the East Libya-located assembly as well as the Tripoli-located High Council of State, which preform as a senate, on the improvement of the nation’s sovereign institutions.
