(MENAFN) The recent successful launch of the Qaem 100 satellite carrier by the Islamic revolution Guards Corps' Aerospace Force has been lauded as a sign of the country's national might by Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson.
Nasser Kan'ani made the comment in a Monday tweet, barely two days after the IRGC's three-stage solid fuel suborbital carrier was launched.
The first of its kind, Qaem 100, was developed by Iranian scientists and is capable of launching satellites weighing up to 80 kilos into orbit 500 kilometers above the earth's surface.
On Saturday, the launch vehicle's solid-fueled first-stage engine, which had been subjected to ground testing earlier this year, completed its maiden suborbital mission.
“The successful launch of Qaem 100 satellite carrier was another demonstration of the national power and the ability of Iran’s young scientists for surmounting the summits of science and modern technologies,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry representative stated.
Kan'ani went on to say that what makes the launch even more significant is that it was carried out despite all of the enemies' sanctions and the US' so-called maximum pressure campaign against Tehran.
“This is the very thing that has made the Iranian nation’s known enemies angry and delusional,” the Iranian diplomat asserted.
