Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus on his way to become youngest GM in chess history

(MENAFN) The future youngest grandmaster in chess history is the Turkish prodigy Yagiz Kaan Erdogmus.

The 11-year-old Erdogmus increased his International Federation of Chess (FIDE) rating in August, bringing it to 2,456 points, which means he just needs 50 more points to be eligible for the rank.

Grandmaster (GM), International Master (IM), FIDE Master (FM), and Candidate Master are the four master titles awarded by the FIDE (CM).

Erdogmus, who has already attained FIDE Master level, is anticipated to quickly advance to IM status as he currently possesses the necessary 2,400 points in 27 or more games.

Aside from additional requirements established by FIDE, if he surpasses the 2,500-point threshold, he will have the necessary rating to obtain the GM title.

If Erdogmus achieves the top-tier title in time, he is going to overachieve Abhimanyu Mishra from the US as the youngest person to get GM status. Mishra was 12 years, 4 months and 25 days when he managed to get the grand master title.
