Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) has successfully concluded the third edition of the 'Young Adults' Summer Camp', which included exciting activities aimed at empowering young people who are keen to develop their skills and creativity.
A total of seven sessions took place between July 23 to August 11 to offer young people the opportunity to explore their passion. The range of activities appealed to those interested in research and learning and touched on science experiments, robotics, engineering, career guidance, and visual design.
The“Young Adults' Summer Camp” began with a session that demonstrated science experiments, which were popular among the attendees. The session was an opportunity to learn about the subject of chemistry through interactive techniques. The sessions also featured a book club on career guidance, in collaboration with the Qatar Career Development Centre. Students discussed popular books that can support their future career planning.
Additionally, there were sessions where visitors learned how to use the online platform Canva for graphic design, how to build robots, the technological aspects of engineering, as well as displaying their creativity through arts and crafts.
One of the workshops involved discussing the book Be Red Tea, which aims to help young people who want to make changes in their lives.
Commenting on the occasion of the third edition of the Young Adults' Summer Camp, Ahmed Yousef Almalki, Head of Young Adults said:“The third 'Young Adults' Summer Camp' was a huge success this summer and provided a variety of educational activities for young people such as arts and crafts, design, science exploration and robotics, in line with the Library's vision to develop the skills and talents of young people to exploit the existing resources available to them.”
“The Children's and Young Adults' Library will continue to provide innovative events that keep pace with the new and that deliver the right environment outside the classroom for children and young people to discover, enhance and develop their interests, talents and skills,” he added.
The Young Adults' Summer Camp is one of many activities hosted by the Library for young people to participate in. It is in line with the Library's vision that promotes learning and discovery, in which young adults can take advantage of the Library's resources. The Library will continue to host a variety of fun and engaging events throughout August 2022, such as the“Little Storytellers Workshop” and“Chess Club”, for a fun-filled summer break.
As the Library will host several in-person events, members of the public are reminded to adhere to the latest COVID-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health to ensure the well-being and safety of the community.
