Enemy Storming Sievierodonetsk, Ukrainian Forces Holding Out

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's armed forces are holding out as Russian invaders are storming the city of Sievierodonetsk in the Luhansk region.

Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said this in a Telegram post, according to Ukrinform.

'The Russians are storming Sievierodonetsk… Street fights are ongoing there. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the defense. The head of state, who visited our advanced positions in the Luhansk region at night, was convinced of this,' he wrote.

He also noted that rescuers had put out the fire in an area of about 1,000 square meters in Lysychansk after the Russians shelled a bakery and it caught fire.

In addition to the bakery, several government buildings and two apartment blocks were damaged.

A local woman was wounded during the enemy shelling of Pryvillia. She was hospitalized.

According to Haidai, more serious destruction was recorded in the Hirske community, including 16 houses destroyed in Zolote, three in Hirske and six in Vrubivka.

Enemy shelling also damaged the civilian infrastructure near Metiolkine, Borivske, Ustynivka, and Toshkivka.

Zolote, Orikhove, Hirske, and Vrubivka came under mortar and artillery fire.

He also said that the invaders were conducting assault operations near Bilohorivka and Mykolaivka, and the enemy suffered significant losses there.

Air strikes were launched on civilian infrastructure in Lysychansk.

Russian troops are trying to establish full control over the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, but to date this goal has not been achieved. Fighting has been going on in Sievierodonetsk for some time now.
