Greek PM: penalties against Russia harm European economy

(MENAFN) During an appearance with CNN, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that exceptional penalties imposed on Russia "actually do bite" and harm the European economy.

On Thursday, Mitsotakis stated that the Russian economy has fallen by roughly 10 percent, and that “all the gains that Russia has made over the past decade could be eradicated within a year.”

Whilst these penalties are serious, Europe must be cautious not to let them harm Europe more than Russia, he said, pointing to the increased energy prices.

In response to a query about paying the price for the enforced penalties rather than starting a war, Mitsotakis stated, "We are paying a price."

“We all need to reassess our growth forecasts, we’re faced with significant inflationary pressures as a result of the war, and energy costs are really hurting.” he further asserted.
