Last year, an internal inquiry instigated by a workplace grievance disclosed testimony that Lander, the head of the Office of Science and Technology Policy and Biden's science adviser, mistreated and disrespected personnel. Despite Biden's Inauguration Day contention that he determined“honesty and decency” from all who worked for his administration. The President (Joe Biden) accepted Dr Eric Lander's resignation letter
“The President (Joe Biden) accepted Dr. Eric Lander's resignation letter this evening with gratitude for his work at OSTP on the pandemic, the Cancer Moonshot , climate change, and other key priorities. He knows that Dr. Lander will continue to make important contributions to the scientific community in the years ahead,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki tweeted.
Lander wrote in the letter that he is“devastated” that he has wounded former and current coworkers. Biden did not request Lander's resignation, according to the White House.

Psaki said top administration officials met with Lander earlier Monday to communicate his conduct and management of the office. Also, he would be able to keep his job, illustrating the administration's“procedure” for handling workplace issues. When Biden took office, he adopted a“Safe and Respectful Workplace Policy” as an unlikeness to former President Donald Trump. His advisers often belittle one another and political adversaries. Lander's departure was reminiscent of then-White House deputy press secretary TJ Ducklo's resignation in February 2021.
