Qatar - Cabinet defines subsidised goods, their maximum prices

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani on Wednesday chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held via videoconferencing.

Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti issued the following statement:

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet listened to the explanation given by HE the Minister of Public health Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari on the latest developments to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19). The Cabinet affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.

Then, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:

First - The Cabinet approved a draft Cabinet decision on determining subsidised goods, their maximum prices, and the categories of beneficiaries of them.
The preparation of this draft decision comes as a continuation of government's support for commodities and fodder as a strategic option, and in implementation of the provisions of Law No. 5 of 2017 regarding the regulation of dealing in subsidized commodities. The draft included defining the subsidised supply and fodder commodities, their maximum prices, the groups benefiting from them, their disbursement, and other regulatory provisions.
Second - The Cabinet approved a draft Cabinet decision amending some provisions of decision No. 32 of 2013 on naming chairman and members of the grievance committee at Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA).
The committee, established at QFMA, headed by a chairman, who is one of the chiefs at the Court of Appeals, with membership of two Court of Appeals judges as well as two others having experience in the securities field, is competent to decide on the grievances concerning the penal decisions issued by the QFMA.

Third- Approval of :
1- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of youth between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Burundi.
2- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of sports between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Burundi.
3- A draft memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of culture between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of Burundi.
Fourth - The Cabinet reviewed the results of the 38th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Housing and Reconstruction (CAMHR), the fourth session of the Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development, (AMFHUD) (the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - December 2021), and took the appropriate decision regarding them.
