FENIX expands electric mobility offering with launch of e-bikes in UAE and Qatar
(MENAFN- Q communications) Dubai, UAE, December 2021: FENIX, the leading electric mobility platform in the Middle East with a mission to unleash urban potential and propel communities forward, is launching a new form factor as part of its vast fleet of electric vehicles, by providing on-demand shared electric bikes to residents and visitors in select areas of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar from 6th December 2021.
FENIX will introduce its shared electric bikes across the region in partnership with community stakeholders. The service has initially launch in Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island and Al Hamra communities in partnership with the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA). In Qatar, FENIX has entered into an exclusive micromobility partnership with ASPIRE Zone in Doha, to provide visitors with a safe, convenient and efficient means of transport across the sports complex via its FENIX e-bikes.
The e-bikes join a growing portfolio of mobility offerings provided by FENIX, including market leading shared e-scooters and the region’s first private e-scooter subscription service MyFENIX. With a range of vehicle types and business models, FENIX is providing increasing choice to consumers to make micromobility more inclusive across consumer segments, use cases, environments and price points.
FENIX’s investments to increase affordable and accessible electric mobility connected with public transport is catalyzing local commerce and economic empowerment across the region. With transportation as the top contributor of carbon emissions and all GCC markets in the top 15 in per capita emissions, accelerating the transition to electric mobility is a vital initiative to achieve the region’s sustainability goals.
FENIX operates the largest electric vehicle fleet in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) with over 10,000 vehicles. The introduction of e-bikes further substantiates FENIX’s commitment to the electric movement in the region and each purpose-built FENIX e-bike is equipped with an advanced pedal-assist motor system, a functional basket and illuminous front and rear lights. The electric mobility leader’s e-bikes showcase the highest quality and durability to ensure users experience a comfortable ride and each e-bike has a range of 75 km on a single battery charge; enabling users to travel longer distances. The vehicles are also equipped with fast wireless charging smartphone holders for easy access to directions while riding, and built-in NFC readers for potential tap-to-pay integrations in the future.
Commenting on the launch, Jaideep Dhanoa, Co-Founder and CEO of FENIX says: “We are excited to launch FENIX e-bikes, expanding our choice of affordable and convenient electric mobility options for commuters to enjoy across the region. With the growing demand for more mobility options in urban and cosmopolitan cities, micromobility offers an affordable, convenient and infrastructure efficient alternative as it reduces the mobility tax we all face, increases local commerce and drives economic productivity. With the introduction of our e-bikes, residents and commuters in these launch areas will have access to a new, efficient and fun way to move, igniting impactful commerce across their communities. We are thrilled to partner with RAKTA in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE and ASPIRE Zone in Doha, Qatar to provide residents with integrated solutions that aid in sustainable travel.”
FENIX e-bikes and e-scooters cost AED 1 / QAR 1 per minute to ride, and are the first in the region with a No Unlock Fee. Residents and visitors can enjoy their first ride free up to AED 15/ QAR 15 using a new user promo code, while repeat commuters can receive value savings on rides by purchasing weekly and monthly packages. Anyone who takes a ride also benefits from the “Rise with FENIX” rewards program, offering free credits and discounts on a monthly basis, where the more you ride the more you save.
Riders can easily locate FENIX e-bikes and e-scooters by downloading the FENIX mobile application from iOS and Google Play stores, and make use of the electric vehicles 24 hours a day.
