Egypt, Singapore Leaders Hold Talks On Middle East Developments

Cairo: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met in Cairo on Saturday with his Singaporean counterpart, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, to discuss regional and global developments of shared concern, foremost among them the latest situation in the Middle East.

A statement by the Egyptian Presidency reported that the talks addressed Egypt's energized efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, deliver humanitarian aid, and secure the release of hostages and prisoners, with both sides pushing back against displacing the Palestinians from their territory.

In this regard, El-Sisi highly appreciated the humanitarian aid Singapore provided to the people of Gaza through Egypt, noting the challenges hindering the adequate delivery of aid.

The region is going through exceptional circumstances that require energizing global efforts to halt the war and facilitate the flow of aid, El-Sisi pointed out.

He stressed Egypt's position rejecting the elimination of the Palestinian cause or the displacement of the Palestinian people, averring that a just and comprehensive peace, along with stability in the region, cannot be achieved unless the Palestinian people are granted their legitimate rights and are able to establish their independent state along the borders of June 4, 1967.
