PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan and Russia have resolved to support all efforts for bringing lasting peace to Afghanistan.

Pakistani and Russian national security advisers exchanged views on recent developments in Afghanistan at a meeting in Moscow on Wednesday.

“They expressed grave concern over the looming humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan,” said a statement from the National Security Division (NSD) in Islamabad.

Pakistan's National Security Adviser Dr Moeed Yusuf and his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev urged the world to take practical steps to avert the impending crisis in Afghanistan.

The two sides, expressing satisfaction with the trajectory of their bilateral relations, agreed to remain engaged on all matters of mutual importance.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on regional and international issues, NSD said. The agenda covered bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, defence, counter-terrorism, counter-narcotics and cyber-security.

The two sides also discussed collaboration among law enforcement agencies, special services and defence ministries.
