Tunisian film subject of online debate in Brazil

São Paulo – Tunisian film 'The Man Who Sold His Skin,' which was nominated for the Best International Feature Film Oscar this year, will be the subject of an online debate between Brazilian specialists in immigration and refuge next Thursday (4). The discussion (in Portuguese) will occur at 6:30 pm BRT (9:30 pm GST) on Pandora Filmes' Youtube channel ; the distributor is one of the organizers of the debate, together with Brazil's Arab Culture Institute (ICArabe).

The feature tells the story of Sam Ali, a young Syrian who moved to Lebanon to escape the war. To travel to Europe and live a love affair, he accepts a tattoo on his back by a great contemporary artist, a decision that marks his life path. The film is based on a true story and brings out issues such as immigration, refuge, and freedom. Tunisian Kaouther Ben Hania directs the feature.

Mona Perlingeiro, a consultant specializing in migration, and João Amorim, professor of International Law at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), will discuss the film at the online meeting. 'The Man Who Sold His Skin' premiered in Brazilian movie theaters on September 2, with distribution by Pandora Filmes.
