Qatar- Deputy PM appoints Special Envoy for Climate Change and Sustainability
(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani issued Ministerial Resolution No. (2) for the year 2021 appointing HE Badr Omar Ismail al-Dafa as Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Climate Change and Sustainability.
Al-Dafa is currently the Executive Director of the Global Drylands Alliance, an international organisation concerned with food security based in the State of Qatar . He was Qatar's ambassador to Madrid, Cairo, Paris, Moscow and Washington, and a non-resident ambassador to Switzerland, Finland, Greece, Latvia, and Lithuania. Estonia, Mexico, and a permanent representative of the State of Qatar to the Arab League.
He has also served as Director of the Department of European and American Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Assistant to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Executive Director of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.
Badr bin Omar al-Dafa holds an MA in International Public Political Science, and a BA in Political Science and Economics.
