Jordan- Border guard foil smuggling attempt, seize drugs

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, June 27 (Petra) –– Border guard troops of the eastern military zone, in coordination with security forces, thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs from a neighbouring country across the border, according to a source at the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab army General Command.
It said that troops applied the rules of engagement, forcing the infiltrators to retreat, adding that a search of the area unveiled 70 bags of hashish and that the contraband was referred to the competent authorities.
The source reiterated that the armed forces will deal firmly and with full force with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the country and keep the security of the kingdom's borders.
