Hungarians shine at 37th Spartathlon in Greece


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) A double Hungarian victory has been made this year at the Spartathlon 246km Ultra Race in Greece. Tamas Bodis and Zsuzsanna Marazwon won the men's and women's title respetively, reportsTrendciting toXinhuanet.com .

Maraz completed the distance in 30 hours, 16 minutes and 18 seconds and only seven of the men were able to overtake her. She beat Russian runner Irina Masanova (31:18:08) and Natasa Robnik from Slovenia (32:15:31).

The fastest runner was Tamas Bodis, who won the race with a time of 23 hours, 28 minutes and 37 seconds. He triumphed over fellow Hungarian Zoltan Csecsei, who got the silver (27:16:59), whereas the bronze went to Czech runner Radek Brunner (27:26:20).

Spartathlon is an ultra-distance foot race that takes place in September of every year in Greece. It is one of the most difficult ultra-distance races in the world because of its unique history and background.
