Dh100 notes 'doused in drugs' seized in Dubai

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Three cops at Al Qusais police station have been promoted for foiling two drug smuggling attempts: One suspect was caught with 'cash soaked in crystal meth' while the other hid narcotics in a contact lens case.

In a recent visit to the station, Maj-Gen Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police, issued the promotion of Corporal Ahmed Issa, Corporal Saleh Alawi and Policeman Marwan Al Maamari, praising their vigilance and dedication.

In the first attempt, the man tried to visit a detainee, insisting that he had to personally give him some cash, Dh100 bank notes. However, Corporal Issa and Corporal Alawi noticed his suspicious behaviour.

"Our cops were alerted as he had insisted to hand the money to the detainee, so they inspected the money and detected the drugs" said Brigadier Yousef Al Adidi.

Revealing the details of the second case, the director of Al Qusais Police Station said one female detainee tried to smuggle drugs through her contact lens case.

"When our staff checked the detainee's belongings, they were able to detect the smuggled drugs in the 'unusually heavy' contact lens case," the officer said.

Maj-Gen Al Marri presented certificates of appreciation and recognition to the three cops.
