Arab League condemns bombing of mosque east of Baghdad


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, June 22 (KUNA) -- The Arab League condemned on Saturday the bombing of a mosque in Al-Baladiyat district east of Baghdad on Friday, which left scores killed and wounded.
In a statement, the Arab League expressed its sincere condolences to the Iraqi leadership, government, people and the victims' families and wished speedy recovery to the wounded.
The statement stressed solidarity of the Arab League with Iraq in facing these "terrible" terrorist crimes that kill innocent lives and violate the sanctity of mosques.
It pointed in this context to the importance of standing firmly in front of such acts by taking effective coordination measures at the regional and international levels that lead to "eradicating the phenomenon of terrorism and extremism". (end)
