Oman- ISC Malayalam wing management committee assumes office

Oman hosts a large Keralite population and while many are quite adept at taking care themselves, many get into variety of problems, money related and health related, which put them into embarrassing situation.

'We are committed in keenly liaising with the Indian Embassy and also with the Kerala government on such issues and extending help to those who are in need. We will be looking at case to case on its merits and rendering our assistance in complete compliance with the law of the land. Further we will be organising programmes, depicting the rich culture and heritage of India, particularly Kerala. We vouch to respond to any genuine humanitarian cause brought to our notice,' stated the committee.

The new Managing Committee members are: Abraham Mathew, convener, Sreekumar P, co-convener, Ajith Kumar Menon V, treasurer, Lekha Vinod, Ladies wing, Rajesh K, Cultural wing, E G MadhuSudhanan, Literary wing, Prasad G Karanaver, Social welfare, Shaheer T K, Entertainment & Sports, Mathew Thomas, Drama & Music wing.

'We are in the process of organising the Onam Competitions 2019 of the Malayalam wing, which is scheduled to commence from May 2.

The first phase of the competitions will be conducted for music, arts and literary items only. The rest of the items like dance, group items, etc, are scheduled after the summer vacation of the schools in the months of August/September.

In the past, the National festival and the Harvest festival of Kerala 'Onam' is celebrated by Malayalam wing in a festive mood. We consider Onam as our flagship programme. The Grand Finale of Onam Celebration is scheduled to be held on September 19/20 and will be concluded with our traditional Onasadhya on September 21 at Al Falaj Grand Hall, Ruwi.

We expect some renowned guests from Kerala for the function. The details will be announced in due course.
