Osaka suffers 1st defeat since Australian Open win
(MENAFN) Japan's tennis ace Naomi Osaka suffered on Tuesday her first defeat since her Australian Open title victory and firing her coach.
The 21-year-old was beaten 6-3, 6-3 to Kristina Mladenovic of France in the Dubai Championships.
Following her victory and Osaka's 25 unforced mistakes, the Frenchwoman is scheduled on Wednesday for a third round match.
Osaka commented after the match: "I played pretty bad, you have days like that. You just have to find a way to, like, win no matter what the situation is."
She added "after I lose a sort of bad match, I'm just looking forward to the next tournament."
