US envoy for Syria to visit Turkey, Jordan to discuss several issues


(MENAFN) U.S. special representative for Syria James Jeffrey will fly to Turkey and Jordan in December 4-14, the State Department stated Tuesday.

Jeffrey will be accompanied by Joel Rayburn, deputy assistant secretary of state for Levant affairs and special envoy for Syria.

The department stated in a statement, "In Turkey, the Ambassador will meet with Turkish leaders and other senior officials to discuss the promotion of stability and security in Syria".

He will also carry out a "High-Level Working Group on Syria" with Turkish officials €Žto discuss security worries of the U.S. and Turkey and continue improvement on issues of joint interest regarding the Syria crisis, according to the statement.
