Afghanistan: militants die as military retaliate attack


(MENAFN) Provincial government spokesman Abdul Rahman Mangal declared that number of militants have died after as a Taliban attack was retaliated in Afghanistan's eastern Wardak province.

Mangal added: "Hundreds of Taliban rebels launched a coordinated offensive early this morning to overrun Deh Mirdad district but their attempts have been foiled and the militants after suffering huge casualties retreated."

The official confirmed that over 50 militants have died and at least 60 more were wounded.

Ten police personnel, with a district police chief Sayed Yunus among them, have died in the clashes against militants.
