Chile: 9 planes remain grounded over bomb threats


(MENAFN) Chilean police has detained a man, aged 29, over explosives which urged nine commercial planes to remain in Chile, Peru and Argentina.

A specialist organised crime unit detained the suspect in the northern Chilean city of Antofagasta overnight.

A police spokesman, Diego Rojas declared: "The police managed to trace the phone calls that were made warning of explosives on different planes."

The suspect is set to stand before court in Santiago on Friday afternoon over making threats of explosives contrary to national security legislation offences.
