UWI Chocolate Manufacture Training Programme


(MENAFNEditorial) The UWI through the Centre for Food Security and Entrepreneurship [CFSE] is designing a training programme aimed at increasing the technical capacity of entrepreneurs in the Caribbean to move up the cocoa value-chain by building capacity to manufacture Value Added Cocoa products, including Chocolate.

The project will take into account the current constraints of manufacturing and marketing chocolate in Caribbean producing countries.

The ultimate objective of the initiative is to assist the Caribbean in improving the income of cocoa farmers and other industry stakeholders by allowing them to capture a larger percentage of the revenue derived from Caribbean cocoa.

The training will be facilitated at the Cave Hill campus in Barbados, over an eight-month period.

All cocoa farmers, manufacture of chocolate and other cocoa products, persons interested in becoming Chocolatiers, Persons who wish to specialize in artesian chocolates, and person interested in doing business involving cocoa are all invited to a meeting to discuss the prospects of the training programme.
