North Korea Strengthens Southern Border Defenses on Kim Jong Un’s Orders

(MENAFN) North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has directed a military build-up along the country’s southern frontier during a meeting with senior army commanders, according to state-run media reports on Monday.

A Korean news agency said Kim held discussions on Sunday with division and brigade commanders from across the armed forces, focusing on major military and political priorities.

During the meeting, he underscored the need to reinforce frontline units stationed near the southern border and to transform the area into an “impregnable fortress,” according to the news agency.

He also highlighted the importance of modernizing military structures and upgrading key forces “militarily and technically,” as part of broader efforts to strengthen deterrence capabilities.

In addition, Kim called for reforms to the military training system and an expansion of realistic combat exercises, aligning preparations with changing warfare methods and the rapid advancement of military technology.
