Oman- Al Namaa Poultry Company signs pact to build slaughterhouse


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Al Namaa Poultry Company signed a contract on Wednesday with the Dutch Meyn Company for the construction of a slaughterhouse.

The contract was signed by Eng Saleh bin Mohammed al Shanfari, chairman of the Board of Directors on behalf of Al Namaa Poultry Company and by a Dutch company representative.

The slaughterhouse will have a production capacity of 200,000 birds/day. It will have two production lines with a capacity of 10,000 birds/hour with the use of latest technologies, machinery and equipment from the reception of live birds to the final product and the use of air cooling technology, allowing a higher quality product with longer validity.

The Al Namaa Poultry Project, which has a capital of RO100mn, aims to produce 60,000 metric tonnes of high quality white meat annually and contribute in increasing the self-sufficiency rate of white meat from 30 per cent now to more than 50 per cent, when the project reaches the maximum productivity.

It will help in providing more than 1,500 direct and indirect employment opportunities for Omani youth.

The project, located in Al Safa area in the wilayat of Ibri in the governorate of Dhahirah, consists of a combined feed production plant with a production capacity of 50 tonnes per hour (500 tonnes/day) with storage capacity of raw materials estimated at three months, an automatic slaughterhouse for halal slaughter (according to Islamic law) estimated at 200,000 birds/day.

The signing ceremony was attended by H E Dr Fuad bin Jaafar al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and chairman of the Board of Directors of Oman Food Investment Company, dignitaries, officials and specialists from the public and private sectors.
