Cyclone Mekunu will not reach UAE, says Met office


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) As Cyclone Mekunu hits parts of Oman, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM)has said that the cyclone will not reach the UAE.

"According to the Medium Ranged Forecast from Numerical Weather Predictions, the tropical cyclone will not reach the UAE," NCM said in a statement.

It added that however medium and high clouds and moist air mass may lead to convective cloud formations at times in the eastern and the southern parts of the country associated with fresh winds.

The weather department stated that it is monitoring the weather conditions round the clock and updates about the cyclone will be shared.

"The tropical cyclone has weekend after reaching west of Dhofar, Oman with the continuity of different intensity thundery rainfall, associated with strong winds."

Meanwhile, the weather for today is expected to be partly cloudy and hazy. The temperature is also likely to fall.
