Amman, May 27 (Petra)--His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday paid a surprise visit to the emergency department at Al Bashir Hospital in Amman during which he checked on health services offered to citizens in light of the increasing number of patients treated at the medical facility.
During a tour of the emergency, internal medicine and surgery wards, the King checked on conditions of a number of patients at the hospital and listened to citizens' complaints and difficulties they face, as well as medical services provided to them.
His Majesty stressed the need to improve the quality of medical services provided to patients in various parts of the Kingdom, highlighting the need to harness all available resources to ensure the best services to citizens in the health and other sectors.
King Abdullah urged a speedy implementation of the new emergency and ambulance building to improve the efficiency and readiness of the hospital, which provides medical care to large numbers of patients daily and around the clock, to ensure better health care and medical services to patients.
During the visit, His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all doctors, medical and technical staff working in the hospital, and for their noble humanitarian message.
He praised the role they play, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, as they provide patients with the necessary medical care in accordance with best practices and standards.
During his visit , His Majesty who was accompanied by the King's advisor, the director of the King's Office, the Royal Court Secretary General and head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, was briefed by the Director of Al-Bashir Hospital Dr. Ammar Al-Shurafa, on health services provided by the hospital, the number of patients and medical staff as well as plans to modernize the hospital, to enable it to continue to provide the best possible medical and therapeutic care to patients.
Al-Bashir Hospital was established in 1954 in the Ashrafieh area. It underwent developed and maintenance work in three different stages, starting in 2002 and continuing until now, at a cost of about JD74 million.
The 1100-bed hospital has a medical staff of 3,300 people, including 960 doctors and has all specialties and medical departments.
