Pakistan- Fata LHWs protest against nonpayment of salaries


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) PESHAWAR, 22 January: Dozens of lady health workers (LHW) from Khyber, Bajuar and Mohmand tribal agencies on Monday protested against non-payment of salaries.

The enraged health workers gathered outside the Fata Secretariat and recorded their protest. They blocked the main Warsak road for vehicular traffic and chanted slogans against the government and officials of the Fata Secretariat.

According to the protesters, majority of them had not been paid salaries since July last year, while some others had not received salaries for the last years. They said they had been living miserable lives due to nonpayment of salaries.

They asked the government to release their salaries immediately otherwise, they threatened, they would boycott the upcoming anti-polio immunization campaign.

Later, an official of the Fata Secretariat assured the health workers that their salaries would be released in one week time, after which, the protesters dispersed.

The official informed the protesters that a summary pertaining to the regularization of services of LHWs had been sent to the federal government, adding they would soon get a good news.
