UK could cut foreign aid for developing countries

(MENAFN) The international development secretary declared the UK to possibly cut its aid to developing countries that are not investing in their citizens.

The Daily Telegraph was informed by Secretary Penny Mordaunt that as long as others put "their hands in their pockets", she "won't invest".

The secretary then urged governments of those countries to "step up and take responsibility," she added "if it chooses not to, that will inform our decisions around our funding."

Ms. Mordaunt continued "we will continue to prioritise investments in saving lives, tackling under-nutrition, improving health and getting kids a quality education. But our focus will increasingly be on helping developing countries stand on their own feet and build sustainable health and education systems that they invest in themselves."
