Contemporary Qatari artist Lulu M opened her solo exhibition titled 'R E M Rapid Emotional Movement at W Doha Hotel & Residences last night.
Curated by Fahad Al Obaidly, the exhibition is open to the public until November 16 from 9am to 7pm.
Born in London in 1978, Lulu M is a self-taught artist recognised for her minimalist abstract compositions.
Her works often draw inspiration from bold experimentations with myriad painting techniques and materials, producing astonishing pieces that express pure emotion through colour and form.
With this exhibition, Lulu M traverses the emotional realm of her dreams. The whimsical collection illuminates the process and rhythm by which the artist creates her pieces, inviting viewers to explore the unique depths and dimension of her work. Featuring sundry materials, forms and colours, the show promises an introspective journey of her vivid dreams, persuading viewers to look deeply into her pieces and experience them.
The artist's phenomenal work is not new to the Art 29 repertoire.
Her past paintings were previously displayed alongside other emerging female Middle Eastern artists as part of the group exhibition 'Currents by online art gallery Emergeast held earlier this year.
Art 29 was established as a vibrant platform to showcase the works of emerging local, regional and international artists.
The expansive gallery has previously featured prominent Qatari names including Ahmed Bin Majed Al Maadheed, the artist behind 'Tamim-al-Majid the iconic portrait of H H Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as well as Abdulwahed Al-Mawlawi who is known for documenting local artistic expression from the late 1990s to 2002.
Within a year of its launch, Art 29 has also played host to a photography exhibition titled 'Shifting Spaces & Forgotten Walls by students at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, as well an exhibit by Emergeast, the first online art gallery that brings together emerging Middle Eastern artists and young collectors under one umbrella.
