Abdullah bin Zayed visits WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

ABU DHABI, 18th October, 2017 (WAM) -- H.H. sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, today visited the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 competition, which is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Abu Dhabi National exhibition Centre.
Sheikh Abdullah inspected the participating pavilions of an exhibition on the sidelines of the competition, including the "People of Determination" pavilion, where he exchanged conversation with other visitors while praising the efforts of the nation's people of determination in this unique international event, which reflects the country's commitment to include them in the entire community and their importance and key role in society.
Sheikh Abdullah stressed that the country's hosting of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 embodies its future vision and its support for the youth, who are its key future strategic resource. He also praised the competition's global participation and its valuable and informative discussions, which brought together leading experts, officials and youths from around 62 countries around the world.
The WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 also saw the participation of 1,300 competitors from 59 countries, who competed in 51 diverse skills categories, including aeroplane maintenance, mobile robots, garden design, fashion and graphic design technology, and many others.
WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017 aims to inspire the youth and encourage them to get involved in technical and vocational education, to enable them to establish private businesses and improve their work skills, in line with the UAE Vision 2021.
